Podcast Nr. 23 – Tim Orr from San Francisco about “The Naked Stage”

I am so happy to announce the great Tim Orr from San Francisco as my first interview partner in 2015! Just as Lisa Rowland, Tim is playing at BATS (Bay Area Theatre Sports) Improv in San Francisco, and will be in Berlin for a while after visiting the Amsterdam improv festival. My group, the Improbanden, together with Theater ohne Probe, has the great pleasure to have a workshop with Tim for his format “The Naked Stage”. Just before the first training, I have recorded this interview with Tim – and what should I say, he’s right: You really have to experience what the means by “Try to play people who are nice to each other and avoid conflict”, to understand it (at least for me it’s like that). It slows down your play drastically and makes you feel relaxed on stage and, at the same time, completely in the moment. It’s really awesome, I can hardly recommend trying this to anybody. What else Tim has to talk about, you can hear in the following interview.

Podcast Nr. 21 – Michael Wolf über das Improvisieren im Stile Rainer-Werner Fassbinders

Gestern hatte ich das erste Mal das Vergnügen, ein Mitglied der Gorillas zu interviewen: Michael Wolf. Michael ist Gründungsmitglied der Gorillas und spielte vorher bereits bei Theatersport Berlin. Als Regisseur und Autor feierte er Erfolge auch im “konventionellen” Theater und im Fernsehen mit GZSZ. Zusammen mit seinem Kollegen Tom Jahn (ebenfalls Gorillas) hat Michael vor einigen Jahren ein improvisiertes Fassbinder-Format entwickelt, das ich bei meinem Besuch in Halle Ende November das zweite Mal erleben durfte, und das mich auch dieses Mal wieder unheimlich aufgewühlt hat. Deshalb wollte ich gerne einmal mit Michael sprechen, was ihn dazu bewegt, im Stile Rainer-Werner Fassbinders zu improvisieren.

Was es mit Urbans Namen auf sich hat, wie Urbans Gruppe Paternoster organisiert ist und inwiefern die Arbeit mit festen Theaterszenen das Impro bereichern kann, könnt Ihr im folgenden Podcast hören. Podcast Nr. 16 – Ella Amann über Resilienz und die Frage, was Impro damit zu tun hat

Am gestrigen Karsamstag habe ich mit Ella Amann ein sehr spannendes Gespräch zu einem Thema geführt, das mich wesensmäßig berührt: Resilienz. Dahinter steht die Frage: Was hat “Impro” eigentlich mit Resilienz zu tun? Ella ist seit gut zwanzig Jahren als Impro- und Resilienztrainerin unterwegs, betreibt das Resilienzforum Berlin und die impro live! Akademie.
Das Gespräch geht diesmal weiter über das Thema “Impro” hinaus, über den Bereich der sogenannten “Angewandten Improvisation” hin zu Unternehmens- und Menschheits-Kulturen, bis hin zur 2. Kantschen Grundfrage “Was soll ich tun?”

Podcast Nr. 15 – Interview with Randy Dixon

Today, in the wonderfully mystic atmosphere of the garden behind the Berlin Ratibor-Theater and with fantastic weather conditions, I had the pleasure to talk to improv legend Mr. Randy Dixon ! With birds twittering and bells ringing in the background, we were talking about the IMPRO 2014, about Randy and of course – about improv!

For me, it was a premiere in two ways: for once, it was the first interview that I did in English (for English speakers: Don’t be puzzled, the intro is actually in German 🙂 ), for the other it was the first time that I did the recording outside of my small home studio.
